Sunstates Security Promotes Laura Hall to Human Resources Director
Industry veterans help the company continue its double-digit annual growth
RALEIGH, N.C., January 2021—Sunstates Security, a national security services firm headquartered in Raleigh, N.C., recently announced the promotion of Laura Hall to Human Resources Director.
“Laura is simply top-notch,” said Chief Operating Officer Denis Kelly. “In her five years with Sunstates, we’ve grown tremendously, as has Laura and her ability to lead our HR team.”
Hall started as a corporate recruiter for the security firm, following the Sunstates model of promoting from within to build her skills and advance her career. She took advantage of Sunstates’ educational support to earn her aPHR (Associate Professional in Human Resources) certification through HRCI (Human Resources Certification Institute) and to learn every aspect of managing a growing workforce.
In her new role, Hall will lead the HR department and oversee Sunstates’ handbook and policies, employee benefits and engagement, recruiting, unemployment, employee relations/investigations, and management coaching. She will also help Sunstates continue to grow organically while meeting the challenges of COVID-19.
“Every day is different and provides opportunities to solve new problems,” she noted. “I’m excited about the opportunity to continue to provide HR support and guidance to our employees and regional operations teams.”
Sunstates Security has always made promoting from within a core value of the firm, and Hall’s new position illustrates that strategy. “Laura joined us five years ago as a recruiter but very quickly established herself as a real asset for the company,” said Sunstates President Glenn Burrell. “When an HR leadership position became available, she jumped at the opportunity and has proven to be a solid leader of the company’s HR team.
“During her tenure, the HR department has grown exponentially. Her understanding of the business and true compassion for team members has made her an excellent fit for the culture at Sunstates. Laura gets that we are only as good as our rank-and-file members and directs the HR efforts accordingly.”
Since its founding in 1998, Sunstates Security has grown from a regional company to one of the 10 largest security firms in the country.
