Shaun Root Sunstates Security – Business Development Manager

A seasoned security professional with over 20 years of experience in the contract security industry, Shaun Root initially joined Sunstates Security as a Regional Manager in 2018 when the company expanded its geographic footprint into the Colorado market. After getting the Colorado market established, Shaun moved back to his home state of Ohio accepting his current position as a Business Development Manager. He works closely with the local Regional Manager and operations teams across Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, and Illinois.  Identifying new business opportunities and partnering with potential and existing clients to find solutions for their unique security requirements.

Shaun’s Career History: 

Shaun began his security career as a security officer and quickly moved up to the management ranks. He began in management as a Branch Manager for a single market.  Throughout the course of his career, he expanded the scope of his responsibility.  He oversaw client portfolios spanning multiple states and numerous vertical markets. In his most recent position prior to joining Sunstates, Shaun successfully managed a portfolio of 60+ clients and 300+ security professionals in Northern Colorado. Shaun is familiar with all areas of the security business, including human resources, budgeting and cost containment, employee training and mentoring, contractual compliance, and troubleshooting/problem-solving. He excels at mentoring, team building, and is proactive in targeting issues as well as developing solutions for process inefficiencies. Shaun holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and Business from the University of Cincinnati.  Additionally, he has a Top-Secret clearance through the US Department of Defense. He is a member of ASIS International who actively participates in numerous association-sponsored events.
