Shannon Lemond

 

Sunstates’ Associate of the Year 2021 award was presented to Shannon Lemond. This prestigious company award recognizes outstanding contributions and a commitment to exceeding expectations. Shannon is a true team player and has the respect of all her peers and executive leadership while contributing to the overall Mission & Vision of Sunstates Security.

Shannon’s Background 

Prior to working at Sunstates, Shannon worked at a car rental company where President Glenn Burrell was a customer.  After being laid off during the 2008 downturn, Glenn reached out and offered Shannon the opportunity to interview for Sunstates Security.  She started working part-time, completing various tasks such as filing, running errands, reception duties and whatever else was needed. After obtaining her accounting degree, Shannon joined the Sunstates team full-time. 

Current Position

In her current role as Controller, Shannon is responsible for managing the accounts payable and receivable processes along with three employees reporting to her, overseeing some of the payroll features, producing the financial statements, new job creation and set up, being the Winteam guru, and more!

When asked what her favorite part about working at Sunstates was, she said, “I think I have the best boss and the best team.  They make my day every day.  Robert, Louis, Rose, Ryan, and Kendall are the best, and I feel so lucky and proud to have each of them on my team and so grateful to be a part of their team.  This award is much more of a testament to the work they do each day than anything I’ve accomplished on my own.  The enthusiasm, ownership and professionalism they each bring to their roles consistently amazes me.” 

Shannon’s Free Time

When not at work, Shannon enjoys spending time with her family playing board games and video games.  She also appreciates her quiet time on a long bike ride, gardening, or reading.  This past year Shannon spent a lot of her free time learning how to walk again after having surgery on her broken ankle.  Her dog certainly appreciates her being able to walk him again!
