Sunstates Security Supervisor of the Year 2021
Sunstates is delighted to announce the Supervisor of the Year award for 2021. We had 17 extraordinary nominations from across the country. All the supervisors nominated are knowledgeable, reliable employees; however, only one can receive the honor of being the Supervisor of the Year. Below are the winner and runner-up from 2021.
Sunstates Security Supervisor of the Year 2021
Sean Lane, Central Region
Nominated By: Adam Smith & Craig Bush
Sean Lane is a selfless leader that puts his team’s needs above his own. He consistently works hard to deliver results to the customer, his team, and to Sunstates. He is a stay late, come in early go-getter that has improved his site and the people on it. Sean will ask what else he can do for us, the Regional Management team, to improve the entire region.
During the strike at CCC Toledo, Sean volunteered to get into a vehicle and leave immediately. Within 60 minutes of getting the phone call, Sean left to pick up other officers and head to Toledo. Once on the ground, Sean took command of the SMARRT Team, organized the incoming members into shifts, and ensured everyone had everything they needed. He arrived early for his shifts and stayed late to ensure that the site and team members were safe and secure. His initiative made that operation a success and improved everyone around him.
His tireless leadership is what makes Sunstates Security the success that they are today. We look forward to what the future may hold for Sean within the Sunstates Security team.
Sunstates Security Supervisor of the Year 2021- Runner-Up
Akim Garcia, Savannah Region
Nominated By: Roy Davis
Over the year, Officer Akim Garcia has served as the Site Supervisor for the COVID-19 testing site established by the City of Savannah. He has continually been recognized for his leadership by various community members to include the City Manager and New York Governor Cuomo. Officer Garcia has received accommodations and challenge coins from Governor Cuomo as well as the National Guard. Over a two-week period, a group from New York set up testing sites in the community with 20 doctors and healthcare professionals assigned to assist. The Governor’s Office recognized Akim’s security team for their assistance in ensuring the sites ran seamlessly without any major issues, evening withstanding scattered storms during a few days of the detail.
Garcia was also recognized during a visit from the Battalion Command Staff of the National Guard unit assigned to the COVID-19 testing site along with Sunstates Security. During his visit, Command Sergeant Major Locke was informed by Staff Sergeant McBride, who’s in charge of the detail for the Guard, that Officer Garcia’s leadership had been recognized by multiple members of his unit to include himself. Garcia checked on his assigned Sunstates team and he continually communicated with the National Guard team members to ensure that they rotated posts and had water and breaks. For this, Command Sergeant Major Locke presented Staff Sergeant McBride with an Excellence in Leadership Challenge Coin to award for Officer Garcia.
